“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” –Audre Lorde
Of course, my entire life doesn’t revolve around my ministry and the church; I have a rich and creative life off the clock. My main hobbies are reading, writing, hiking, bicycling, go to the movies, live theatre and spending time with my son, Sam, and my friends and family.
In 2015 I set a goal of running four half marathons over the summer. It actually ended up being four in three months; the first one was June 4th and the last one was September 6th. I wrote about that experience in my blog, here.
Speaking of hiking, the following summer, 2016, while on sabbatical, I walked the Camino de Santiago, the roughly 500 mile ancient pilgrimage through the north of Spain. It was a very powerful and spiritual experience and I also wrote about that in my blog, beginning here:
Below is a slideshow of many different aspects of my life. Hopefully this will give you an idea of how madcap, errr, well-balanced I am. Note: This slideshow could also be called the many hairstyles of Nori. Note: the last slide is actually a link to a video of a story I shared with our local Story Project. Enjoy!
I’m the far right on front row. Notice how freakishly small I was!
WRRR is a play written by a man exiled in Iran. It ran several weeks with a different actor each night, who didn’t get the script until right before the show started. A really powerful play and a fun thing to do.
I have done three Story Projects. This was my first and I told two stories about the Camino. Really fun to do.
